OFD Augments It's Command Staff With Three New Chiefs

As part of the OFD's commitment to progress Chief Garrison has promoted three new chiefs. Captains Mike Margot, (pictured below) Mike Mathai, and Darryl Hebert (both pictured left) were all promoted to Battalion Chief,
and then appointed to Division Chief. Chief Hebert is the Division Chief of Training, Chief Margot is the Fire Marshal, and Chief Mathai is the Division Chief of Operations. Also, following the retirement of 30-year veteran Ted Porter, Firefighter/Paramedic Scott Bowers was promoted to Engineer. Congratulations on your retirement Ted!
OFD Firefighter/Paramedic Dominates California Firefighter Olympics in Swimming
During the week of July 16th hundreds of firefighters from throughout California gathered in San Diego for the annual California Firefighter Olympics.
OFD FF/PM Josh Henry (left) won four gold medals in Swimming. He won both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle races, which were the most competitive events. He also helped dominate the medley and freestyle relays along with Engineer Mark Campbell and FF/PM Blake Dorse. (As well as Josh’s brother Drew, a firefighter at Camp Pendleton.)
In other events Engineer/Paramedic Tom Schraeder took the bronze medal in Over-The-Line. The OFD’s newly-formed softball team used the Olympics as practice in order to make a competitive showing next year…hopefully.
