OFD Opens New Fire Station 7
July, 2008- On July 9th, 2008 the Oceanside Fire Department opened new Fire Station #7 on
Mission Ave, between State Route 76 and
Foussat Rd.
The $8 million dollar, state-of-the-art facility replaces a temporary facility located nearby on Jones Rd. Temporary Station 7 was opened in 1996.
The18,000 square feet station is designed with architecture that closely resembles the historic Mission San Luis Rey, just a few blocks to the east.
The station will initially house a truck company, a fire-rescue paramedic ambulance, and a battalion chief. In addition, there is enough room to house an additional engine company.
One of the primary features of the station is its central location. In the first month alone response times in the central northern part of Oceanside have been noticeably reduced.
An open house was held on July 19 along with an official dedication ceremony.
The next major project for the fire department is building a permanent home for temporary Station 8, which is currently located at the City Operations Center on Oceanside Blvd. in the east end of the city.
